Short answer. There is no single pole syllabus in Brussels. Ask what a class assumes you can already do. Do not choose it because the number matches a class you took somewhere else.
Based on the beginner progression framework used at Flow Factory Brussels. Other schools in the city publish different structures, or none.
Why the numbers do not travel
One school’s “level 2” may assume climbs and invert entries. Another school’s “level 2” may still be basic spins. Competitions use their own categories, which are not the same as a Tuesday class. Teachers move between schools and bring habits with them. The timetable is still local.
When you change studios, describe your experience in moves and in months, not in the old school’s number.
The Flow Factory scale
Flow Factory publishes this progression for its own pole classes:
| Name on the timetable | Assumption |
|---|---|
| Pole Beginner 1, including trial | None. Open all year. A single class can be booked. |
| Pole Beginner 1–2 | At least 5 beginner classes already taken. |
| Pole Practice | No teacher in the room. At least 10 classes already taken. |
| Pole flow | About 3 months of pole. The class is flow, in socks, not a trick list. |
| Intermediate classes | Up to level 3. The description states the level. |
| Pole heels | Separate track: initiation, level 1 and level 2. |
Teachers are expected to say when you are ready to move. The five-class and ten-class lines are there so a newer student does not land in a room that assumes shared vocabulary, and so unsupervised practice is not treated as a beginner hour.
A different structure, same city
Air Dance School, as of 4 October 2026, opens beginner pole courses with the term and offers short initiation classes at the start of a session. That is a term calendar, not Flow Factory’s rolling Beginner 1. Both can be a correct first class. They are not the same product.
Pole Dance Family describes Pole Technique for all levels and does not, on the page checked, publish a numbered ladder. Brussels Art Pole’s public pages checked for this guide do not define one either.
If you are unsure, book the class that says beginner or initiation, or write to the studio before you buy a large card.
